the watermen project collaborated with dr. tristan guttridge and bimini biological field station from 2014, tagging great hammerhead sharks to understand their migratory patterns. the critically endangered species in the north-western atlantic and gulf of mexico faced a 50% population decline from bycatch. our focus was to gather crucial data for conservation. multiple trips from 2014-17 resulted in tagged sharks and the 2022 paper, “vertical space use and thermal range of the great hammerhead.” dr. guttridge continues studies via ngo saving the blue.”
